Congratulations Big Brother!
This evening at 6 pm Urbino time, Alessandro Bogliolo is hosting the public listening of the 1st hour of programming for the University of Urbino’s web radio project. I worked on this in the early stages, and just want to say how happy I am to hear that its now going live! Congratulations everyone! Good work!
I think the link is www.radio-campus.it. But if that doesn’t work after this evening, the link will be on the UWiC web site. I want to listen to it too!
Again – good work everyone!
I just read all about the UWiC and it is pretty amazing. Certainly a project like this could develop more easly in a town like Urbino but nontheless I think they did a really good job.
Especially now with the ok from the government on using the 35+35Mhz frequency instead of the 3,5Ghz used till now for experiments, ISP companies are starting to look more closely to the WiMax market. Allthought as usual not everything is so good as it looks like. This kind of connectivity doesn’t need big investments and the licenses will be valid on a 10 years period, this means it would propably be a monopolistic competition instead of a free market. Who gets the licence will decide the price and if they don’t open up more frequencies people won’t have the ability to choose between competitive providers. Or even worst big ISP companies will buy frequencies all around italy and resell them to local ISPs raseing the price closer to the normal broadbands offers. (I really hope not)
I didn’t actually get what will the radio talk about…I guess we’ll have to wait untill 18-hundrer hour to find out!
